Approach to Agriculture and Agricultural System of Pakistan
During the studies as student of Economics about Pakistan Economy by President ARM conceived sensational (Shauri) approach that “Pakistan is not agriculture country but “dominantly” Agro based Country” in all economics factors like Natural resources (Sweet water, Fertile Land, Sun Light, Suitable and Different Climate), Human Resources (Agriculture skilled Man power) and Rich Agro Based Culture, Traditions and Festivals. In 1995 met with (Late) Dr. Abdul Hafiz Director (R) from F.A.O. It was turning point of this continues journey of efforts for the development of Pakistan’s economy through Agriculture development. Dr. Sahib gave few copies of “Sohny Dharty” for study, which were published by him during 1989 to 1993.
Establishment of Agriculture Reform Movement (ARM)
In 1995, Agriculture Reform Movement (ARM) was established and started work under kind supervision of Dr. Abdul Hafiz to develop a culture of Experience Information and Pains sharing between Farming community of Pakistan on grass rout level as a strategy of “GAPS” (Gains And Pains Sharing)
Publishing of a Magazine “Zarai Tune” & Dr. Abdul Hafiz Departure
He started publication of a new Agriculture Magazine by the name of “Zarai Tune”. But due to financial and some other problems, consistency in publication of this magazine could not manage. Dr. Hafiz was well aware about WTO regime and its effects on Farmer and Agriculture System of a country like Pakistan. He used to say, it is the only way to face the challenges of WTO, by develop the Prompt, Strong, Broad based and Reliable Coordination between all stakeholders of agriculture sector.
In 2001 Dr. Abdul Hafiz departed to his God. Just after his Death, his another dedicated companion Malik Khuda Bakhsh Bucha took all responsibility of ARM as President. But after only 11 months he also left ARM alone. Since then Ijaz Ahmad Siddiqi from Lahore has given responsibilities of ARM as President due to his close association with Dr. Abdul Hafiz regarding ARM related matters in touch with him. To keep continue and strengthen the links with Farmers, Mr. Siddiqi also extended his services as Editor Kisan Risala (established by Malik Khuda Bakhsh Bucha in 2002).
In 2006, the organizers of ARM took over the task as per aspiration of Dr. Hafiz about the effect of WTO regime. Well-wishers of Dr. Sahib and prominent professionals urged to compile a comprehensive data bank so the broad based coordination between Farmers, Professionals and Agro based entrepreneurs can be dev eloped. It was in fact materialization of Dr. Abdul Hafeez approach that ARM developed the agriculture directory “Green Pages”.
Quantum of Work for Green Pages
To complete this noble task of Green Pages, over 10000 Individual/Institutes were contacted (8000 Farmers and 2000 Public and Private Sector Organizations from Provinces including FATA, Northern Area and Azad Jammu Kashmir). The theme plane of Green Pages was designed as Farm Input (Agro Commercial Sector + Public sector administrators relates to Farming community) and Farm Output (Agro Based Industry + Fruit, Vegetable & Grain Markets + Agricultural commodities Brokers & Exporters) Thanks Allah ARM have complied and published the 1st Edition of Green Pages in 2008 in English, and 2nd in 2010-11 in Urdu successfully. Now with the grace of Al mighty Allah, ARM has taken again task to update Green Pages Digital Version in form of web portal www.armpk.pk/greenpages.com.pk
ARM’s Future Programming and Planning
Although Green Pages provides a strong coordination based relations, but to review this coordination on monthly basis, ARM is publishing Monthly Magazine of Dr. Abdul Hafiz “Sohny Dherty”. As ARM’s Motto is not only Coordination but awareness and Facilitation also. Therefore, Establishment of Rest Houses for night stay in big Cities are engaged in rich Agro based activities also in progress. Training modules are being designed to improve the technical skill of Farmers to enhance their earning ability. To approach the community scattered countrywide, Distance Learning Program is also being organized with separate establishment of an Agriculture Corresponding School of ARM (ACSA). All these activities will be based on assistance of technical experts are associated with ARM.
Organizational Structure of ARM & Basic Principles for Legislation (BPL)
To sustain this whole program, we have also developed Management Structure Headed by President at Central level with coordination of Provincial, District, Tehsil coordinators and on very Grass Rout level Village Council. The structure of Technical Coordinators ARM and Specific Crop Specialist Farmers has also been formed for result orientation information sharing and Technology Transfer. There is no Membership Fees, By Laws of Agriculture Reform Movement, Basic Principal for Legislation (BPL), Objective, Action Plan and Organizational Set up have also been reviewed.

Agriculture Reform Movement (ARM) is not a traditional Organization. It was initiated by a Competent, Professional and a very Patriot Personality (Dr. Abdul Hafiz) of International Fame and Vision. The same Vision is being materialized by the present Management of Agriculture Reform Movement (ARM). Now Dr. Abdul Rauf Bhutta Director General (R) Federal Seed Certification & Registration Department (FSC&RD) Federal Ministry of National Food Security & Research (NFS&R) is the present Patron Chief/Chairman of ARM is the student of, the student of Dr. Abdul Hafeez.
Encouragement and Moral Sport
ARM’s sprit of working is based on a quotation of the Founder of Pakistan Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah (RH) “WORK, WORK AND WORK”. Organizational Structure, Priorities, Focus and Vision Distinguish The ARM than other Organizations in the Region. The core ascent of Approach, Broad Vision and Working Plan to achieve Objectives, therefore, it must be Patronized at highest Level in the Country. So ARM may be able to achieve the goal of Agriculture/Agrarian’s Prosperity and Development of Pakistan. It is desire of ARM that the access of Green Pages web portal must be where there is a Farmer or Farmer interest. So that, every farmer can get information about Agriculture inputs and outputs of his requirement. We hope our higher Agriculture Administration will think on these lines and will make it possible and assure.
