Food and National security are two of the major pillars which ensure the sovereignty of a country. Food security is of prime importance for sustainable development of the economy. Moreover health, education and awareness give an impetus to both the components. Pakistan is an Agricultural country, therefore the Agriculture sector has crucial importance for developing sustainability and rapid growth,  stands most responsible to secure and ensure our sovereignty 

In the past, the Government of Pakistan has taken a number of steps for the restructuring of Research & Development institutions and their improvement by modern instrumentation and foreign training of scientists. However, even after such efforts, the technology has not been able to trickle down to grass root levels where the 80% small farmers operate, who in the case in Pakistan. Resultantly desirable changes has not occurred in commercial or social sector of Agriculture.

Low performance +/- 3 in agriculture growth the last decade is due to slow rate of filed standard technological innovation, problems with input quality & quantity availability in adequate extension services, limited investment market in infrastructure and communication gaps between different stakeholders.  This is the reason as to why efforts on individual levels bear no fruit for the cohesive efforts.

Keeping in view the importance of price and quality of agricultural products in the present regime, the capital investment and production should be matched to the international standards. This can happen only, if it is based on the best knowledge and management skills available. In this modern age of Globalization and Liberalization, the agro-based industry of Pakistan needs proper documentation and a comprehensive database. Agriculture Reform Movement (ARM) is updating Agriculture Directory of Pakistan with the name of Green Pages. This aims at bridging the communication gap and providing the knowledge about all the Stakeholders of the Agriculture Sector as it is anticipated to be mutually beneficial.

Climate changes indicate, that there will be greater variability of weather more frequent events such as floods and drought. This has created challenges to plant breeders and plat protection experts. He has to develop resistant varieties and pedigreed seed for enhancing agriculture production for sustainable food security. Agriculture Reform Movement (ARM) is one of the grass root level organization which is establishing a Think Tank of agriculture experts and progressive farmers for technology transfer to the small farmers. It will help to develop strong coordination between all stakeholders, policy makers and executors.
