Riaz Hussain Hoshiapuri (Safeer-e-Ingeer)
Riaz Hussain Hoshiarpuri is a dignified and multifaceted personality who served in the Aeronautical Branch of the Pakistan Air Force and retired with honor. Currently, he is associated with Joint Forces Public School, Maryam Mukhtiar Shaheed Campus, Chichawatni, where he is playing an important role in the education and character development of the younger generation. His love for nature, agriculture, and particularly Fig (Anjeer) has given him a unique identity—today he is widely known as the “Ambassador of Fig.”
- His mission is not merely to promote a fruit, but to contribute positively to Pakistan’s economy. By promoting fig cultivation, he is striving to:
- Save valuable foreign exchange for the country
- Provide farmers with a profitable alternative crop
- Transform agriculture into a modern and sustainable Agribusiness
- His initiatives include supplying fresh figs to markets across Punjab, drying figs, and producing high-quality fig jam.
Another significant aspect of his work is that he has challenged the common misconception that figs can only grow in mountainous or cold regions. Through his practical experience and efforts, it has been demonstrated that figs can be successfully cultivated in the warm regions of Punjab, producing excellent yields.
By the grace of Allah, and through his guidance and dedication, thousands of fig plants have been planted across Punjab. So far, 11 organized orchards and plantations have been established, notably in Chichawatni, Faisalabad, and Vehari.
A notable milestone in this mission was the Fig Festival held on February 15, 2026 in Faisalabad, where a large number of tree lovers and nature enthusiasts participated, reflecting the growing success of this initiative. His vision is clear and ambitious.
“To transform Punjab into the Land of Figs, and ultimately position Pakistan as a prominent fig-producing country in the world.”
As the “Ambassador of Fig,” one of his key missions is also to share his knowledge, experience, and guidance free of cost with farmers and enthusiasts so that more people can benefit from this profitable agricultural opportunity.
