ARM’s Achievement & Success Stories

  1. ARM demonstrated 10 plots of cotton sowing on ridge in remote area like Rajanpur, Tonsa, Dera Ghazi Khan with coordination of farming community in 1996 under the technical guidance of Dr. Abdul Abdul Hafeez as he has designed and launched a project of 100 plots of 1 acre with the financial support of FOA in 1982, Ibrahim Abu Daha a Egyptian cotton scientist was project direct.
  2. ARM started publication of monthly magazine “Zarai Tone” from 1999 which remained under printing by 2002 to provide practical based and reliable information of cultivation to farmers.
  3. Abdul Hafiz has departed to sole in 2001, Malik Khuda Bux Bucha was elected next president of ARM. After only 11 months Malik Khuda Bux was also demised to heaven in 2002. Now the friends of Dr. Abdul Hafiz and members of ARM decided unanimously Mr. Ijaz Ahmed Siddiqi as president of ARM, since then Mr. Siddiqi is presiding ARM since last 24 years regularly.
  4. Ijaz Siddiqi (President ARM) extended his services to Monthly Magazine “Kisan Risala” from 2002 to 2007. This magazine was launched by Dr. Tariq Bucha son of ARM’s second president Malik Khuda Bux Bucha. Mr. Bucha remained the Leader of House of West Pakistan in the era of President of Pakistan General Ayiub Khan.
  5. WTO (World Trade Organization) regime has set in from 2005, Agriculture Reform Movement ARM launched an awareness campaign about the impact of WTO on economy of framing community. Especially about international standard for international marketing of agriculture commodities by Europe Union with name of Euro-GAP (Good Agriculture Practice) and later these standards were accepted on international level with Global-GAP. Many article were written by the president ARM to create awareness about WTO regime.
  6. ARM remained most prominent propagator to Plant Breeder’s Rights (PBR) legislation. The initial draft of Plant Breeder Right was prepared by ARM’s Technical Expert Muhammad Boota Serwer DG of (R) FSC&RD in 2006. ARM also proposed many suggestions in initial draft of PBR in 2006, more than 90% were considered in new amended draft of 2008. But unfortunately government made many changes in original draft then it was passed by the Parliament in 2016.
  7. Initial draft of Seed Act (amendment) was also prepared in 2006 by Boota Serwer Sb keeping in view the requirement, problems of farming community and the requirement of WTO regime. This draft was a powerful document to protect the rights of farming community of Pakistan. The real soul of Seed Act amendment was again destroyed by the government of that time Mr. Nawaz Sharif PM when it was passed in 2016 by the parliament.
  8. In 2007 Mohammad Ijaz Shafi of Okara District, who was technical expert and District Representative of ARM for spraying technology, has designed and developed a Spraying Machines for Citrus and Mango orchards according to Euro & Global GAP standard. It reduced the price by 4 times in respect of Brazilian spray machine.
  9. Magazine Sohny Dhety is brave, focal vibrant spokesmen of farming community of ARM. ARM is disseminating experience based information, technical knowledge of its technical experts by publishing “Sohny Dherty” since 2008. It is the only magazine in the country which is being published with the sport of farming community. Ads does not print in the magazine which seems against the interest of farming community.
  10. In 2008 in English ARM also launched innovative projects “Green Pages” for the first time and alone agro Directory (containing 26000 contacts, Nos. and address) for creating broad based coordination, collaboration and interaction between all stakeholder of private and public sector of agriculture.
  11. In 2009 ARM got into an agreement of 230,000 rupees with Agribusiness Sport Fund (ASF) on matching grant basis regarding updating of Green Pages. ARM also fulfilled all its obligations under the agreement successfully and total funds has released.
  12. ARM also met successfully its obligations under the agreement with multinational telecom company Telenor Pakistan of 1.2 million rupees in 2009-10 regarding use and supply of data of Green Pages in 2010-11 to an international “E-mandi” project.
  13. ARM also expressed its apprehension about the devolution of Federal Ministry of Food & Agriculture by 18th constitutional amendment in 2010. ARM access to Prime Minister regarding this issue at last the government had to establish another Ministry with the name of “Food The
  14. The name of federal ministry of National Food Security and Research was also suggested by the ARM when 18th amendment was being made in constitute of Pakistan. This suggestion of name is mentioned in the editorial of monthly “Sohny Dherty” July 2010.
  15. In the 2010-11 ARM update and reprint the Urdu version of Green Pages with more advanced information in scientific way. At present the Green Pages is being updated now, but now Green Pages directory will not be published the updated data will be published on web greenpages.com.pk it is expected the number of entries will accede from 120K InShaAllah.
  16. Maximum soil of Pakistan has pH more than 8, than the fertilizers are being used of high pH. ARM’s also collaborate with Tariq Niazi incharge of Fertilizer Research Cell National Fertilizer Company (NFC) Faisalabad in 2012 to extend ARM services to promote acidic fertilizer of NFC to the farmer of ARM Sialkot, Shakergar, Pasroor, Multan, Khanewal, Kabirwala and Abdul Hakim.
  17. Redundant use of pesticide is also a dilemma of our farming sector, it also creates environmental problem. The knowledge about secure and effective use of pesticide through best quality spray nozzle. ARM also extended the services of its expert to produce quality nozzle and spraying instrument at local level at affordable price with a local company “Noori Agro Lines Multan which now providing quality spraying instrument country wide.
  18. When the era of efficient watering has set in Nori Agro Lines got into this most technical field and now providing spare parts at local level with good quality, which is in fact substitute of imported parts.
  19. Heavy fuel price is the scorching problem of farming community. To meet with this problem ARM launched in 2012-13 and promoted Bio Diesel plant “Jatropha” in the country, by supplying plants, free consultancy services, plantation and technology for effective use of Jatropha oil. It was the only objective to reduce the sowing cost of farming community. A method was also introduced to convert into Bio Diesel from Jatropha oil.
  20. In 2012 ARM conducted field trial to drive Peter Engine by pure and direct Jatropha oil without any purification or conversion of jatropha oil into jatropha bio diesel. This trial was conducted at farm of a local farmer in the area of Shersha Multan, about one hour peter engine remained running at pure jatropha oil with any hindrance or problem. It consumed about one liter jatropha oil then according to farmer the normal consumption of normal diesel was 2.5 liter per hour. The video of trail is available on ARM website at page of ARM TV.
  21. On the very same day another field trial was also conducted of tractor driven by 80% Jatropha bio diesel and 20% of normal diesel. At first Jatropha oil was converted into bio diesel and then a full mud loaded trolley was pulled by tractor from 6 feet deep field to road. This tractor was running with this blended bio diesel and normal diesel. This loaded trolley was run on road with full speed. The video of trail is available on ARM website at page of ARM TV.   22. ARM also promoted the water conservative method of Paddy sowing “direct sowing method with seed” to save water in paddy sowing area Hafizabad, Gujranwala, Daska, Sheikhupura and Narowal.
  23. ARM also give suggestion to the area of Narowal to make water storage/Dam just at the point of entrance of 5 water “Nala combine
  24. ARM also introduced Ring Pit method of Sugarcane. The method has potential of 4000 Monds yield per acre, which is 3 to 4 fold more than currently is being taken. For this purpose on farm training also arrange in the area of Bahawalnagar to experts of this technology from Sindh came to Bahawalnagar a one day workshop was held on the farm of Muhammad Husain Chima.
  25. ARM is only organization that developed a water study to solve water related problem of Pakistan. This study has developed in the light of report presented by Peter Leftnick (World Bank Water Expert) of 1967. Water study developed by ARM can play vital role in creating unanimous situation between all provinces regarding water availability.
  26. ARM also coordinates with Mr. Sajid in the projects to develop nursery of Stevia plant (Sugar Plant) in Letrar village near Islamabad in 2012. Now Stevia plants are everywhere in the country.
  27. A project was also develop and produce organic vegetable seed initiated at the farm of Mr. Sajid in Letrar village seed of Turmeric was brought from Mr. Riaz Bhutta the representative of ARM of Kasur district. Seed of Okra (Bhindi), Peas, Carrot were brought from abroad but the death of Mr. Sajid ruined everything.
  28. A new concept of Urban Farmer’s Club has introduced to promote Kitchen gardening in the country to produce Organic Vegetables and fruits at domestic level, for this purpose the organic nutrients based products has developed, it is available and ready to implement.
  29. First national Seminar on Jatropha was also organized in Lahore on 26 April 2011with collaboration of Pakistan State Oil (PSO). Mr. Ahmed Ali Olek Minister Agriculture chaired this seminar He remained present in Seminar by 5 hours which shows his deep interest this unique and game changer project.
  30. A seminar on Ostrich Farming with the collaboration of Pakistan Ostrich Company and Jung Culture Forum was also held at Lahore on 24 July 2011.
  31. ARM got into an agreement to promote Olive cultivation with Eastern Marketing Company (the pioneer and first Olive purchasing company owned by Azam Nazeer) which was biggest buyer of Olive produce in the country. ARM made possible easy access to the Olive Orchard farmer in Punjab and KPK (was named NWFP Province at that time).
  32. On the persuasion of ARM Dr. Abdul Rauf Bhutta he was then Deputy Director in Federal Seed Certification and Registration Department (FSC&RD) (Dr. Bhutta got retired as DG of FSC&RD) as fried of ARM conducted field survey of Gilgit Bultistan in 2003-04 and later in 2004-05 for identification of most suitable area to produce diseases free seed of Potato and Vegetable. On successful survey the reports were published which are being used by nation and international institute and department for possible investment in these remote region
  33. A project/course is also being prepared to make self-sufficient the farmer to get into export marking of agriculture produce like Mango, Citrus, fresh Vegetable, Spices etc. it will open the door to farmers based entrepreneurs in market.
