The Agriculture Reform Movement (ARM) is fortunate to have Mr. Riaz Ahmad Bhutta from District Kasur— the historic city associated with the great Sufi poet Baba Bulleh Shah— Joined ARM as its District Representative.

Mr. Bhutta is not only a close personal friend of the President of ARM but also his contemporary. He holds an Intermediate level education, which, around fifty years ago, was widely regarded as a respected academic qualification.

Belonging to a traditional farming family, Mr. Bhutta is among the few individuals who have remained deeply committed to their ancestral profession of agriculture. More importantly, he has successfully preserved his family’s long-standing agricultural tradition of turmeric cultivation in Kasur District, where he is recognized as one of the progressive and experienced turmeric growers.

In addition to turmeric, Mr. Bhutta is also well known in his region for his expertise in sugarcane cultivation, where his performance and experience have earned him a strong reputation among local farmers.

Through the platform of the Agriculture Reform Movement (ARM) Pakistan, he has actively worked to promote turmeric cultivation beyond Kasur by encouraging farmers in various cities to adopt this crop. Although turmeric farming has not yet gained widespread acceptance in other regions, his efforts continue to raise awareness about its potential.

Mr. Bhutta also enjoys considerable social and political influence within his community. He has previously served as:

·         Member of the Zakat and Ushr Committee

·         Member of the Agricultural Task Force of District Kasur

Holding such responsible and trusted positions reflects not only the confidence the local community places in him but also his strong commitment to addressing the challenges faced by farmers and conveying these issues to decision-makers and authorities
